Here’s my piece for Sloane’s amazing Yakuza-themed art show, “Battles Without Honor and Humanity”. After the show, there will be a screening of Seijun Suzuki’s Branded to Kill playing at Portland’s oldest movie theater, and I agreed to do the poster for it. The kanji in the center of the piece means ‘number one’, because all of the assassins in this world are ranked. Hanada, our main guy, is ranked number three, and Killer Number One may not even exist… !… ? It’s like stream of consciousness sports manga, for contract killers, from 1967. It is GREAT.

Huge thanks to Sloane for the opportunity to participate in a Yakuza themed exhibition! It’s an honor to be included among so many fantastic artists. The exhibition will be held at Floating World Comics in Portland, Oregon on September 15th! So if you like Yakuza themed stuff, or just like to look at illustrations live and in person, come take a look :)

Old men with tattoos are cool.

About me

Moromi is the mish mash of gunk constantly fermented in order to create the best of things like shoyu, sake, and vinegar.

I realize that I am a moromi. And this is me in fermentation as I become the best me ever.
